The Korean tech giant has launched two new flagship devices over at the Mobile World Congress—-Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. These two smartphones are nearly same, but still they have a huge price difference. The smartphones are getting really popular these a days and just like iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this time also people are confused which one to buy. So, if you are one of them then you have arrived at the right place as we are going to hep you today in picking up the better smartphone out of these two.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge are having 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display which offers a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Both the devices are having Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and both are solid and are not going to break at all easily as the drop test of both these handsets are done and neither one has failed. There is a huge difference in the design. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is having dual curved edges and that’s why the name. Anyway, there are some benefits of the curved display.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not going to slip away at all and the dual curved display leads to the better grip of the smartphone. The device comes with some significant features like the Contact Edge. It is a feature which comes by sliding the bar from the right to the left hand side and it allows you to assign your top 5 contacts with different colors. So, if you have kept your phone upside down then by seeing the color you can know who has called or texted you. So, this is a good feature included by the Korean tech giant. The dual Curved displays are also quite unique and honestly, we have been attracted to Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge more as compared to the Galaxy S6 because of it’s unique design. It took 800ºC to craft the dual edges and thus, we think that the hard work will pay off the Korean tech giant.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 end Galaxy S6 Edge both have the same 16-Megapixel camera on the back which allows user to shoot 4K videos. The camera also allows you to select variety of shooting modes and also, the back of these smartphones look identical. From the back, we can not differentiate between them. Both the devices support the OIS and comes with heart rate sensor too. The speaker grills have been shifted to the lower end side in both the devices and they also are covered with the glass. So, there is no difference in camera at all. Also, both the handsets come with the quick camera feature. The quick camera feature allows the user to open up the camera in 0.7 second and for that, you have to double tap the home button.
The curved edges on the Galaxy S6 Edge led to some design differences. Some buttons were placed at different positions. The handsets are having same weight but the thickness is reduced due to the curved display. Both the handset come with same connectivity features and both are having inbuilt wireless charging capabilities.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge both are running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop and the same touchwiz user interface. What we will like is a new kind of of UI from the Korean tech giant. Also, the curved display brings some other features including Information Stream, Night Clock, Edge Lighting and People Edge abut which we already discussed. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is also having a better battery as compared to the other handset. These devices are packing octa-core processors along with 3GB RAM and also, these devices are available in 32, 64 and 128GB storage options.
The Curved displays are the only main difference in the two devices apart from the battery life. Both the devices can survive upto 4 hours by getting 10 minutes charge.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is also having a price difference. The Galaxy S6 is priced at Rs. 49,990/- and the Galaxy S6 Edge is priced at Rs. 58,990/-. So, there is a price gap of Rs. 9,000/- which is just justified by the curved display. The price gap is due to the Curved display. Anyway, honestly we liked the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge over the Galaxy S6 as the design is unique, there are some interesting features and it is something new in the market apart from the flexible and curved display devices. The Galaxy S6 is also a good device, but if we are seeing which one is better then we see the Galaxy S6 Edge as the winner in this war. Anyway, both these devices will be available in India on April, 10th and now, the rest of the things depend on you as the choice is yours.
