The year 2014 was not a very good one for Samsung as for the very first time they have seen loss and on the other hand it’s arch enemy Apple is going far ahead. Well, both these companies bring their high end smartphones every year and it happened last year too. The Apple iPhone 6 was competing against the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and it was still winning the race. A few days ago, Samsung India has launched the Galaxy S6 and can it beat the Apple iPhone 6? Let’s find out.
The design of Apple iPhone 6 led to it’s huge success as Apple and Samsung both these companies have been targeted for over many years for producing phones with same design. So, Apple redesigned it’s iPhone and now, Samsung did it too. Apple iPhone 6 comes with a 4.7-inch Retnia HD display which offers a screen resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels and the screen provides a pixel density of 326ppi. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display which offers a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The pixel density of this display is 577ppi.
The display of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is superior than that of the Apple iPhone 6 and there is no doubt about it. Well, in the hardware terms the Galaxy S6 is having a metal body while iPhone 6 comes with the Aluminium body. These devices are supporting Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The back of the Galaxy S6 is covered with the Glass also and it is something Samsung has done to make it’s device look different from the other devices.
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 looks quite similar to that of the Apple iPhone 6. In the image above you can clearly see that the SIM card tray has been moved to right hand side from interior side. Also, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is having the non-removable battery which we have seen existing in Apple iPhones for many years. The SIM card tray looks exactly the same and there are no doors to make the things look different. The back panel of Samsung Galaxy S6 is also comprised of the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for providing extra protection.
The speaker grills have also been shifted from back side to the lower end side. The iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thick whole the Galaxy S6 is 6.8mm thick. So, S6 is thinner than the iPhone 6, but from looks the results seemed opposite. The Galaxy S6 weighs about 135g and the iPhone 6 weighs about 129g. So, iPhone 6 is still lighter than the Galaxy S6. The designs look very similar apart from front and back end. The sides look quite similar. Samsung has used the metal body and thus, as compared to plastic, it is providing a much more premium feeling. So, both these devices were solid and the advantage which we found in Galaxy S6 over iPhone 6 is that neither it is going to bend nor it is going to slip away from hands. The grip of Galaxy S6 is somewhere better than iPhone 6’s grip.
These are two best smartphones out there with best design and providing most premium feeling.
What makes S6 better than iPhone 6:
1. Fast Charging:
The Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with embedded wireless charging feature which is not there in the Apple iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 is charged only via the USB wire. Also, Samsung Galaxy S6 takes half the time of Apple iPhone 6 to get 100% charge. The Korean tech giant has specially mentioned this point in their conference. The Samsung Galaxy S6 can last upto 4 hours with 10 minutes of charge and it is not possible in iPhone 6. The battery life of S6 is better also as it has a bigger battery and also, provides better power efficiency methods.
2. Heart Rate Sensor:
The heart rate sensor present on the back of this device is also differentiating it from the Apple iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 doesn’t come with the heart rate sensor. The S6’s sensor can measure the blood oxygen saturation too. The iPhone 6 can also do these but for that you need the third party apps which are not so trust worthy.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 allows user to run more than one app at a time. It is not possible in the Apple iPhone 6. In the Galaxy S6, you can minimize the messaging application, keep it in side and open the S Note to write a note and it is not possible in the iPhone 6. The iOS 8 platform allows you to open one app at a time, but Samsung’s UI has done better.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a 16-Megapixel AutoFocus camera with Optical Image Stabilization which is missing in the iPhone 6, but included in the iPhone 6 Plus. The Apple iPhone 6 comes with an 8-Megapixel camera with single LED flash while, S6 comes with dual LED flash. Both the devices are having protruding cameras. The cameras include slow motion feature and also, in Galaxy S6 you can shoot 4K videos while in iPhone 6 you can shoot 4K videos by third part apps.
A fast opening camera is there now in the Galaxy S6. Double tap the menu and the camera is open and it takes only 0.7 seconds to load the camera. So, with this fast opening camera you can take some instant images. In iPhone 6 you can open the camera from the lock screen but it will take more time and it is not going to open up in 0.7 seconds.
The Galaxy S6 comes with a 5-Megapixel camera which has got the Real time Auto HDR feature which is not present in the Apple iPhone 6. The images captured by Galaxy S6 are quite good and from our judgement those were better as compared to the iPhone 6 clicked images. It is also having the tracking autofocus which is going to continuously auto focus a moving object.
The Apple iPhone 6 comes with a A8 dual-core processor and the Samsung Galaxy S6 has got the 64-bit Exnos Octa-Core processor along with 3GB RAM. So, it is going to work well in handling the tasks and also, many a times Apple iPhone 6 is hated up because of low processor power.
What makes Apple iPhone 6 better than Galaxy S6:
The Apple iPhone 6 comes with the iOS 8 operating system which is quite good and the key thing is that if you are a Apple user you are going to stick with the multi tasking feature of iPhone. In iOS platform you are going to find more and new applications all the time as compared to Android. The Android OS is a little clumsy while iOS is not. It is simple and easy to use. Also, in the Google Ply Store you can find a huge number of spam apps which are there to make you fools and as compared to that App Store has done a great job in keeping the restriction.
Also, these a days most of us are using the Apple MacBooks and iPads so sharing between Apple devices have been easy and the Air Drop is there to do a very good job. With the HandOff feature you can answer your calls from Mac. The FaceTime HD is also there for iPhone to iPhone and iPad calls over the internet. Also, Apple iPhone 6 has got a large amount of accessory as compared to that of the Galaxy S6. The covers are so premium that you can completely like them. The covers from Samsung are not that much good.
What Makes S6 and iPhone 6 Equal:
1. Wireless Mobile Payments:
Apple has introduced the Apple Pay with the iPhone 6 and it was quite good as with the help of NFC you can pay the money and you need not to swipe your credit or debit card every time. The Apple Pay has been tested by many users and they are having some problems as each and every sore is not equipped with the Apple Pay supporting machine. On the other hand, Samsung Pay is expected to do a better job and we will see the Samsung Pay when it comes.
2. No MicroSD card and Non-Removable Battery:
The Korean tech giant has completely changed the things around and there is no microSD card slot in the Galaxy S6 now and also, you are not allowed to remove the battery with your bare hands like earlier times. The Galaxy S6 is made available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models, while the iPhone 6 is available in 16, 64 and 128GB models. The low internal storage is and and you have to delete the images, videos and apps to get more space on iPhone 6 but the S6 has double the space as that of the iPhone 6.
The Apple iPhone 5S came with the finger print scanner and Samsung also introduced that in their Samsung Galaxy S5 but they have swipe based finger print scanning. Now, they have changed it and now, just like Apple you have got the fingerprint scanner button. Apart from that, both these devices come with the Step Tracking feature and these devices are going to keep the track of your health.
The things are pretty clear which shows that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is better but this is the virtual truth. the reality is that the both phones have their own values. The Galaxy S6 is definitely better in term of specs. Also, iOS and Android are totally different operating systems which are mostly used by people. Both these devices offer premium a feeling and they are the best smarthphones out there. If you are looking for better specs the Samsung is leading, but the rest of the things depend upon your own choice.
