Micromax introduced it’s online brand Yu Televenture earlier this year, and it became a remarkable success. The company became very popular with it’s Micromax Yu Yureka, and recently, the company has introduced the Yu Yuphoria. The device comes with good specs, and most importantly it is a budget friendly device and it will give a tough competition to the Xioami Redmi 2. In the teasers, Yu already compared this handset to the Xioami Redmi 2 which gave us some idea about the price tag.
The Yu Yuphoria is priced at Rs. 6,999 and thus, it is going to heat up the smartphone market again. Under this price range, we already saw the Xioami Redmi 2, Motorola Moto E 4G and many others. These handsets are also quite good, but is Yuphoria better? The Yu Yuphoria comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display which offers a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and it provides a pixel density of 294ppi.
The Yu Yuphoria is 142.4 x 73 x 8.2-9.35 mm in dimensions and weighs about 104g. It is 8.25mm thick, but it felt much more thicker than that. It comes with metal, completely surrounded by Metal the Yu Yuphoria looks very great. The handset also equips a third generation Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display, instead of Gorilla Glass 4.
The Yu Yuphoria includes the three famous capacitive touch buttons inside it. The display looked great in the room, but when we tool it to outside, it became dull. So, it is not a great display when we tested it under Sun. The year 2015 is not easy for both consumers and smartphone manufactures. There are a lot of smartphones present under 10K INR. But, as a consumer you want the best product and being a smartphone manufacturer you want to give consumers the most and get high sales in return. Well, Mr. Rahul, Co-Founder of Micromax has done that with the launch of Micromax Canvas Spark.
The Yu Yuphoria looks like a solid device, but we have not done the drop test of this device. So, at this moment, we can not assure you totally about the endurance capability of this handset. We will surely test out its endurance power in the near future.
The Yu Yuphoria having dual-SIM Support and both these SIMs support the3G bands of India. Well, apart from 4G, the deice also supports connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB port and a 3.5mm AV jack as well. The connectivity features were working fine.
The smartphone comes with an 8-Megapixel camera on the back, which is capable of shooting FHD videos and also, it comes with a single LED flash. It is centrally aligned camera, which is made for taking better images. The handset offers a image capture resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. We have not tested this camera yet, but we will surely do in the near future as the Micromax Canvas Spark was also launched with an 8-Megapixel camera.
On the front of Yu Yuphoria, there is a 5-Megapixel camera present which is capable of making video calls and taking selfies. we have tested this camera, and it looks good, but it is not the best selfie camera out there. As compared to the Redmi 2, Yu Yuphoria comes with 16GB of internal storage and there is 2GB RAM also. The external storage can be expanded upto 32GB via a microSD card.
The Yu Yuphoria looks great, but we have to test it and then we can share our views on this handset. If we think about the cons then we can say that the thickness matter here, and it is thick. It is running on Cyanogen OS 12, which gives the taste of Android Lollipop. The Yu Yuphoria comes with a great finish, but in terms of performance you are going to find a 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, and thus we need to check the heating issues as well.
At the Yuphoria launch event, Yu Play God also announced the Yu YuFit and YuHealth. These two devices will be available soon. It can charge upto 50% of battery in 45 minutes. So, it is a good feature included by the company(though it already exists). For now, check out the video below and stay tuned for our complete unboxing and review.
