Nokia Asha 303 was announced last year and a few months back Nokia India has launched one of the first Asha series phone–the Nokia Asha 303–which we have got a week back and now, it’s time to review it as we have played with this device enough to review it, so, with out a further do let’s start the review.

What’s in the Box:

  • Nokia Asha 303
  • Charger
  • Battery
  • Nokia Asha 303 User Manual
  • Nokia Music Guide
  • Nokia Lifetools Guide
  • Head phones
  • Warranty card

Design and Build:

Nokia Asha 303 is having a 2.6 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen which is 320 x 240 pixels in resolution and it’s having nearly 154 ppi pixel density which is quite good. The design of this phone is a little different from other Nokia phones and even we have to say that Nokia Asha 303 is Nokia’s first QWERTY phone to have a curvier back.Nokia Asha 303’s screen is quite bright but unlike Android phone the brightness do not led any harmful effect on the battery life, so, a big Thubs up to Nokia for that, the screen is seriously very bright.

Nokia Asha 303 is 116.5 x 55.7 x 13.9 mm in dimension and the design of the phone is a lttle bit different from the regular Nokia QWERTY phone and it’s very attractive.Nokia Asha 303 is having three push buttons underneath the screen, the first button helps in taking the call and calling, the last button is a switch om/off button and also, acts a call ending button, the button present in the middle has dual works to do, on pressing left side of this buttons messaging app will open up and on pressing the right side music player opens up.Underneath these push buttons there’s a four rower QWERTY keyboard.

Nokia Asha 303 is having a very good build quality and most of the phone is made up of metal and the metallic back panel is very shining. The build quality is solid and also, the phone feels solid in the hand and interestingly, Nokia Asha 303 is very light in weight and is also very thin, Nokia Asha 303 weighs about 99gm and is 13.3mm thick.Overall, Nokia Asha is a perfect device in terms of Build and Design and is not going to disappoint you, we are completely satisfied with it.

Display, Touch Response, UI and OS:

Nokia Asha 303 has a bright 2.6-inch display, I’ve already told you guys these things in previous segment and here in this segment firstly, I’ll talk about it’s touch response.Touch Response of this device is superb and you will not find any lag in the touch response, whenever you will place the finger on the screen, the screen will automatically glow up if the device is not locked.

Nokia Asha 303 is running on Symbian S40 operating system and even if it’s old, nothing matters as Nokia has really worked hard to improve this operating system and this operating system is really user friendly, the user interface of this device is quite customizable too.On the home screen you are going to see three to four widgets and on the left hand side there’s a Go To button which helps you to access the apps directly from the home screen.

Also, from the home screen you can directly change the profiles and on going to the menu you are going to find some apps and some regular day to day apps like messaging, contacts etc.Overall, Nokia Asha 303 is satisfactory in this segment.

QWERTY Keyboard:

Nokia Ahsa 303 is a touch and type device and QWERTY keyboard is one of the main thing of this device and with out it Nokia Asha 303’s is simply dead.Anyway, it’s there and it’s a four rowed QWERTY keyboard and is present underneath the touchscreen. The keys are having no space in between them and also, looks kind of messy, but it’s not, firstly we have also thought the the QWERTY keyboard is going to disappoint us but after the use of three days, we have changed our thinking about the QWERTY  keyboard of this device.

The keys are also little bit raised and have a look at the raised keys in the pic below.

Nokia Asha 303 keys are quite nice, but there’s a little issue with the space key as sometimes we have to press the space button quite powerfully, it happens in the cases when we are typing fastly, anyway, it happens sometimes but this QWERTY keyboard is meant for both slow and fast typing users.Even if you are having big hands you are not going to find any kind of issues. We can also assure you that your fingers are not going to find any kind of pain after typing a long message.Overall, the QWERTY keyboard the main part of the phone is completely satisfactory and there are no issues except the space key.

Camera and Speakers:

Nokia Ahsa 303 has a 3.2 Megapixel Fixed focus camera and this camera has good image taking abilities.Nokia Asha 303 can shoot videos of 640 x 480 pixels.Read the complete review and our experience of Nokia Asha 303’s camera by click on this link.

At the bottom of the back panel there’s the speaker grill located and this speaker is of decent quality. The Speaker of Nokia Asha 303 is present at the at the bottom of the device and the speaker is very powerful, powerful than the speakers of Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and it provides good quality sounds and music. If you are an ultimate music listener or if you do listen music often, then you will not regret after buying this phone, this phone can play a variety of music files.

Browser, Processor and Connectivity features:

Nokia Asha 303 runs on S40 operating system and the browser version Nokia uses is the version 2.0 and recently, Nokia has released this version in the form of an update.Nokia Browser is very good and from the browser you can directly go to apps, social networking sites and you can also access games from here.Nokia Browser uses the full 2.6-inch screen and this browser makes surfing more easily.kinetic scrolling is also very good and there are no issues with zooming in/out also.Overall, this web browser is perfect.

Nokia Asha 303 packs a 1GHz processor and this processor is very impressive and also, Nokia has included a 2GB microSD card with this device and this microSD card is filled with games like Angry Birds and apps like Zenga TV.Zenga TV is a very good application and with it you can watch live TV, Nokia’s very kind to include these kinds of apps. Also, playing games on Nokia Asha 303 is quite enjoyable too.Overall, the 1GHz processor is quite powerful and the device do not hang.

Nokia Asha 303 is a 3G device and has connectivity features like Bluetoot, Wi-Fi, USB port and a 3.5mm AV jack as well. We’ve checked all the connectivity features and there’s no issue with the connectivity. Also, Nokia Asha 303 uses the microSIM card slot.

Nokia Asha 303 plays different kind of music and video format like MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA player and MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player respectively. There is also active noise cancellation with dedicated mic included with this phone.A 1300 mAh battery provides power to this phone but the battery life is now completely satisfactory. It also includes Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer sensors. The call quality of the phone is good and you will not hear any kind of hollow sound while calling some one.Nokia Asha is available in Red, Graphite, Silver White, Aqua, Green, Purple colors also.

The Verdict:

Nokia Asha 303 is a really good device and summing all these sections up we are giving Nokia Asha 303 a score of 4.0/5.0.Nokia Asha 303 is priced at Rs. 8,500 in India and if you are looking forward to buy a new phone in this price range, then do pick up this as it’s a touch and type device which offers good features and applications. So, there you go guys that was the complete review of Nokia Asha 303, stay tuned for more tech updates here at Gadgetgyaan.
