Last year, Micromax made their debut at Consumer Electronics Show and it was quite exciting for everyone as the Indian based giant was there for the first time. There the company announced a different type of product. It was neither a smartphone nor a tablet, but it was the Micromax Canvas LapTab. Remember this device, do you? A few days ago, Micromax sent out the media teaser that they are going to launch something today. It is a good competitor to the laptops as it is different. In reality, it is actually a Laptop and not a Surface Tablet with dock.

On the spec front, Canvas LapTab comes with a 10.1-inch IPS WXGA touchscreen display. It is running on Windows 8.1 platform, and it will receive the Windows 10 update too. The Microsoft specific app, Office 365 is already pre-installed in this Laptop. It is packing an Intel Atom Processor Z3735F along with 2GB of DDLR3 RAM. On the back of this device, there is 2-Megapixel FF camera and also, on front the same camera can be found.

The Canvas LapTab is a 3G only device and comes with connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack too. It comes with 1 microUSB and 1 USB 2.0 port. It also supports SATA drive and it is worth buying as it is priced at Rs. 14,999. Commenting on the launch Mr. Vineet Taneja, CEO, Micromax Informatics Limited, said:

[blockquote]“At Micromax, we have always believed in bringing the best in class and innovative devices to the consumers and have always aimed to bridge the gap between actual consumer device requirement and available device offering and hence, the Laptab promises to bridge the same at a very consumer friendly price point. Today’s launch marks our entry into the PC segment, where we intend to drive category growth and not only garner an available market share. We believe that our vision complements the initiatives for Digital India, and we will be launching a range of exciting products over the next few months in the category.

Our research shows that the Indian consumer has been looking forward to path breaking innovation in this category and we continue to believe that we have brought a highly desirable device for the deserving Indian consumer. Micromax Canvas Laptab has been designed to address the limitations of the existing devices by offering brilliant specifications that are ideal for the productivity and entertainment needs of students and evolved professionals. With its innovative features like touch enabled display, easy- to-use form factor, pre- bundled Windows 8.1 and Office 365, we expect the Laptab will make the consumer experience a true delight. ”[/blockquote]
