Today, we are going to do the macOS Mojave Public Beta Review. Apple released this operating system yesterday for the Public Beta testers. So, how is it? Is it smooth and should I update these are some of the questions you have in your mind right now? But, by the end of this post, everything will be clear for you.
macOS Mojave Public Beta Review:
macOS Mojave is coming with a lot of features and you can also find some of the best features of macOS Mojave here. So, let’s discuss all the changes that arrived today.
Apple introduced Dark Mode in macOS Mojave. So, it is not a new feature it is there for a while now but finally comes to Apple in 2018. The iOS 12 users are not getting any dark mode this year, and they have to wait for another year. So, when we downloaded this update, we see a new screen after restart.
So, you will be able to see a screen like this asking whether you want the Light Mode or the Dark Mode. Later, on you can change it from System Preferences > General.
This is what the dark mode looks like, the image above is not justifying its crispiness. Also, it depends on you guys as well. Some of us like white color and some like dark color. We like the dark color and thus, the Dark Mode is for us. If you are an iOS App Developer then you will see the Xcode in Dark Mode as well, but with Xcode 10 only. Xcode 9 is not supporting true dark mode.
So, is everything dark now? The answer is YES😁. So, you will be able to see the navigation toolbar in dark color, the apps in dark color, desktop and everything else in dark color. So, we do like it very much and we are expecting it to do a great job again in the near future as well.
New Mac App Store:
Apple has introduced the new App Store for iOS 11 last year. This year, they have introduced the new Mac App Store. So, it is completely redesigned and the images are not doing them justice by the way. We are using the mid-2017 MacBook Pro model and the App Store in dark mode looks awesome.
The Cupertino tech giant has added new icons, new fonts, and a complete redesign. So, it looks similar to iOS App Store. Also, they are developing a system which will allow the iOS App Developers to port their iOS Apps to macOS. Where is the proof? The next section covers that all.
iOS Apps ported to macOS:
The company now brings Apple News, Voice Memos, and Home to macOS. They are all available in your launchpad, except for the Apple News. We searched for it all over the place, but it is not here for us at this point in time. Then, we can now see the voice memo, which is one of the iOS Apps. So, here is the proof and they themselves revealed that they are working on this project.
So, in the future, we will be able to see more iOS Apps coming to macOS.
As we continue with the macOS Mojave Public Beta Review, the next thing we are going to discuss is Facetime. This is a proprietary video chatting app for Apple. This app is there for a while now, but now with macOS Mojave, you will be able to make group calls. You can now add up to 32 people in a single group call.
So, how does the system work? When someone speaks up, his/her image window will be enlarged and it is very responsive. We have tested it and it looks nice.
Apart from these Apple is adding a lot of security to Safari this time. Also, now Safari will come with favicons. But, we can not see those favicons in this update. The stack features are also there which helps us to clean the desktop and it works like a charm. Then there is the dynamic desktop feature too which changes the wallpaper texture from time to time.
So, this the macOS Mojave Public Beta Review. We will definitely recommend you to upgrade if your model is 2014 or above. Just take the backup, before upgrading your mac. All the users can enroll for this public beta over at Apple’s website. The final version will be released in September.
