The Consumer Electronics Show witnessed many smartphones and one of the best was the LG G Flex 2. The original LG G Flex was launched last year at the CES, 2014 and that device was hilarious. Consumers didn’t liked it at all and LG learnt a very important lesson in their life and the result is LG G Flex 2. It is the best device of CES and the company has done a lot of hard work, and we can see it clearly. The original device was quite big, it was having a 6-inch screen which offered 720p HD display and now, the G Flex 2 offers a 5.5-inch display with a better resolution.
In this post, we are going to do the LG G Flex 2 specs review and we will take on the price point of this device too, that whether the price tag is justified or not. Firstly, we should detail the specs briefly. The LG G Flex 2 specs include a 5.5-inch plastic OLED display which has got a 700mm curvature. It is LG’s first flagship smartphone to come with a 64-bit processor. The device was firstly tipped by Qualcomm in their press invite about the Snapdragon 810 processors. The expectations were high this year from LG, and we think that they have done a great job this year. The key feature about this device is that it is having the self healing power.
The back panel of this handset is safe from scratches and much more things. The curved display is also going to help a lot. The healing power was quite good and watch this video below to know how the things work, and what are we talking about. It will surely help you, to understand the self-healing power of this back panel.
Hardware: Design & Display
The hardware of this smartphone is amazing as the device comes with a fantastic design. The original device was having a 6-inch display and the screen resolution was too bad. In comparison to the original device, the handset offers a 5.5-inch display which is quite better and also, the resolution has been boosted up to 1080p now. The handset offers a pixel density of 441ppi. It is not the best but it is quite good.
The LG G Flex also came with the self healing technology and at that time, the back panel took hours to heal. The case is quite different with this device. Now, the G Flex 2 takes around 3 minutes to heal up which is a tremendous improvement. Within 3 minutes, the device is going to heal up completely and if you have watched the video then you know how it works. In the back panel, LG has added some polymers, but they are not going to share their secret recipe with anyone. This is some new feature in the market and they want LG to be the exclusive company known for this feature as we have seen in past, Samsung launched their Galaxy Note–World’s first phablet, and every other company launched a 5-inch phone. Today, a 5-inch screen for smartphone has became common. So, it is a good idea from LG.
The LG G Flex 2 is now having a small screen as compared to the original device. So, it will no become easy for consumers to put this phone in pocket. The G Flex was a mess and most of the people complained that they can not put the device in their pockets. With the decrease in screen size the actual size of the display has also been reduced and it looks much more beautiful than before, there is no doubt. It is 149.1 x 75.3 x 7.1-9.4 mm. The thickness can vary, it is not the slimmest phone of the world, but it is far better than the original device.
The G Flex 2 comes with more curved back panel and it allows you hold this device in a better way. The company thought from every angle and they have added additional curves along the side of the device and you can see it in the image clearly. It is having a nice design and is quite an attractive device. LG has worked a lot on this and they should get their reward too.

The handset comes with the plastic OLED display which describes an another story, and we think that they are going to launch many smartphones with curved devices in the future. It is surely going to make other companies follow it and we can also see, Samsung launching a Curved smartphone very soon. The handset is having that 700mm curvature which we saw last year and it can bend upto 400mm. The handset is directly challenging the bent-gate rumors as this device will not bend when someone sits keeping the handset in the back pocket. So it will be competing against the Apple iPhone 6 Plus which is said to be bent in such conditions.
The handset can take a lot of pressure and it will not break. This is the plastic-OLED about which we are talking about. We have seen many kind of displays, LCDs, AMOLEDs, Super AMOLED HDs, OLEDs and now, P-OLEDs. The plastic OLED dsplay are going to keep your device’s screen safe from breaking. So, it is high level of technology which will be appreciated by a lot of people in the coming days.
The G Flex 2 left us with some thought as they have use the 1080p display as most of the screens are now using qHD resolutions so could LG have used it, but they have not. So, we can expect the LG G4 to come with a Quad-HD display. This smartphone has became quite popular and it can back the South-Korean tech giant back on the track. Overall, the hardware of the handset is quite nice and we think that it is a very strong and durable handset out there.
Camera and Operating System:
The LG G Flex 2 comes with a 13-Megapixel camera which can shoot 1080p HD videos at 60fps. It is a good camera and we have seen the same camera in the LG G3. It also comes with Laser AutoFocus, HDR and Optical Image Stabilization(OIS) sensitivity. Anyways, the handset It allows you to capture vibrant images in dim settings. It is just like the G3 you have to press the button present on the back and it will capture an image for you. This is not a camera smartphone, but it is good. There are not so many tremendous features in the back camera. The curved surface will help you to take better images outside. So, nothing too great in this camera. There is a dual-LED flash present and this camera offers features like simultaneous video and image recording, geo-tagging, face detection, panorama, HDR. A 2.1-Megapixel camera is present on the front of this device to take selfies and make video calls. Also, it is not a selfie smatphone, overall, the primary and secondary cameras are just good.
This is LG’s first handset to run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop platform. The operating system brings the material design along with and also, there are a lot of changes in the notification panel. It also provides support to the 64-bit processors and also, it allows to get a better battery life. Also, we can see LG’s customized user interface along with the latest Android platform. So, the device is going to be one of the best as it comes with great hardware and the software also looks quite good, but there is no option to make your phone silent in the settings.
Processor & Others:
The handset comes with the 64-bit processor. We are now in 2015 and this year, we are going to see a lot of 64-bit smartphones. This is one of the first Android smartphones to come with the 64-bit processor. It is an octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz. It comes with 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM. This device is available in 16GB and 32GB models. So, the 16GB model comes with 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM is there for 32GB model. The device is going to be quite fast and we think that it will provide a very good performance. The external storage of this device can be increased to 128GB via a microSD card.

The LG G Flex 2 comes with a 3,000mAh battery which is of non-removable type. In 2014, we saw Samsung introducing a concept of fast charging where we saw the Galaxy Note 4 getting 50% charge in half an hour. So, LG followed their trend and trend and they announced that the Flex 2 will get 50% charge in 40 minutes. The company didn’t mentioned that it will come with a better battery life or something like that, so we don’t think that you should have any high expectations from the battery life.
The handset comes with connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB port and a 3.5mm AV jack as well. It comes with the HTML5 browser. It also comes with NFC and SlimPort.
Price & Final Verdict:
The price of this device has not been announced officially yet, but according to reports it is going to price around Rs. 44,000/-(€560). So we have think that it justifies the price tag The price is similar to that of the unlocked iPhone 6 Plus in US. So, we think that the not bending feature along with self-healing feature justifies the price tag. The price is not going t be the issue as Apple iPhone 6 is also priced above Rs. 50,000 and the Note 4 is too. So, as compared to them, this device justifies the price with latest processor and operating system on board. Overall, according to the LG G Flex 2 specs review it is a quite good device and it will provide a good kick start to LG as they have done a lot of hard work for this smartphone. Also, this was the best smartphone at CES, 2015. So, it will be worth buying. It will be available later this month in some parts of the world.
