Nokia Asha 300 Review
Small and budget friendly device, A Good Competitor in this price range. This device is packing good features and it is an Android phone having lot of features.
Processor is slow and the internal storage is very low. It hangs a little and can not do day to day multi-tasking very easily. The battery life is low.
Nokia Asha 300 was announced at Nokia World, 2011 and we are now, going to review it as these a days, this phone is getting huge amount of popularity and also, this is a cheap touch and type phone, so, it has got many consumers in India, anyway, without a further do, let’s start the review.
What’s in the box:
- Nokia Asha 300
- USB cable
- User Guide
- User manuals
- Warranty Cards
- Nokia Lifetools guide
Display, Touchscreen, Keyboard and Build Quality:
Nokia Asha 300 is having a 2.4-inch TFT resistive touchscreen display and it is 240 x 320 pixels in resolution and this screen is having 256K colors which means that the screen is quite bright, but good thing about this device over the Android devices’s is that even the brighter screen do not eats up the battery life and it’s a major advantage of having this phone.Nokia Asha 300‘s screen brings nearly 167 ppi pixel density and we can say it’s below average as these a days, mostly people prefer the screen’s with 250 or above ppi pixel density, but at this price range we can say that it’s okay. This phone’s design is okay and we can’t say that it’s adorable it’s not going to attract you it’s just a simple touch and type phone.
Nokia Asha 300 is 112.8 x 49.5 x 12.7 mm in dimensions and it’s not going to give you any kind of trouble and also, it’s very light weight device and it weighs just about 85gm, so, your pockets are not going to fill with anykind of load.Well, we are impressed by it’s build quality as this phone has got some serious treatments in the build quality as it’s nearly unbreakable and maximum parts of this device is made up of metal and you are not going to get any kind of cheap plasticky feelings in your hand. This is a solid device and it is not going to break even after falling from your waist height, but surely it will get damaged. The touchscreen of this device is a resistive one, but you are not going to find any difference between this screen and a regular capacitive touchscreen and a big thumbs up to Nokia for this. The touchscreen is quite sensitive and you are not going get any kind of trouble while moving your fingers on this touchscreen, also, bright display makes this screen look more glossy.
This phone has got a classic keyboard and it’s not a QWERTY keyboard of these a days, so, naturally most of you are not going to like it, but frankly this keyboard is more preferable than the regular QWERTY keyboards as in this price range, except Nokia Asha 303, all the phones having QWERTY keyboard just sucks and also, those keyboards are very narrow, the keys are narrow and also these kind of keyboards give pain in our hands and also, delay our typing.Anyway, the keyboard of Nokia Asha 300 is made up of plastic and basically it’s a keypad and not a keyboard, but, the keys are very easy to push and as you know, it’s a touch and type device, so, there is no option for on-screen keyboard, so the keypad is all for typing, but the fact is that to get the letter ‘C’ you have to type a key for three times and if you missed, then you have to press it again, so, these kinds of human error make us say, that the keypad is not good. You are not going to type fast using this keypad, overall, this keypad is okay and is better than most of the regular QWERTY keyboard phones.
Camera and Speakers:
Go ahead and visit this link for the camera review of Nokia Asha 300, also, there you are going to see the camera quality.
At the bottom of the back panel there’s the speaker grill located and this speaker is of decent quality. The Speaker of Nokia Asha 303 is present at the at the bottom of the device and the speaker is very powerful, powerful than the speakers of Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and it provides good quality sounds and music. If you are an ultimate music listener or if you do listen music often, then you will not regret after buying this phone, this phone can play a variety of music files.
Operating System, Connectivity features and Web Browser:
Nokia Asha 300 is running on S40 operating system and this operating system is perfect for this phone. The S40 operating system has got a very simple and cool User Interface and just from the home screen you can go to a lot of apps and directly from there even you can play games too. Also, by visiting menu you are going to find main things of this phone and also, there will be an app called Zenga TV which will help you in watching TV and for that you just need Internet and you can start watching Live TV on your phone. The operating system is cool and this operating system is going to get an update soon which will make it more cooler, anyway, Nokia Asha 300 is a 3G only device and has connectivity features like Bluetooth, USB port and a 3.5mm AV jack, unfortunately, there is no Wi-Fi connectivity feature present in this phone.
The browser version Nokia uses is the version 2.0 and recently, Nokia has released this version in the form of an update.Nokia Browser is very good and from the browser you can directly go to apps, social networking sites and you can also access games from here.Nokia Browser uses the full 2.4-inch screen and this browser makes surfing more easy and kinetic scrolling is also very good and there are no issues with zooming in/out also. The browser also supports WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML, Adobe Flash Lite formats.Overall, this web browser is perfect.
Processor and Gaming:
Nokia Asha 300 packs a 1GHz processor along with 128MB of RAM.This processor is a single core processor, but it is quite powerful as it can run upto 13 apps without even hanging. Also, Nokia has provided some popular games like Angry Birds, NFS and also, other 40EA games that can be downloaded, overall, this phone has got some charms when it comes to gaming quality and even on this small screen we have enjoyed a lot of games.Anyway, Nokia Asha 300 is good for gaming, but hardcore mobile game lovers are not going to like it.
Nokia Asha 300 plays different kind of music and video format like MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA player and MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player respectively. There is also active noise cancellation with dedicated mic included with this phone.A 1110 mAh battery provides power to this phone and the battery life is completely satisfactory. It also includes Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer sensors. The call quality of the phone is good and you will not hear any kind of hollow sound while calling some one.Nokia Asha 300 is available in Graphite, Night Shade, Gold, White Silver, Pink, Red colors also.Internal storage of this phone is 140 MB, but you expand the external storage upto 32GB via a microSD card.
Nokia Asha 300 is a really good device and summing all these sections up we are giving Nokia Asha 300 a score of 3.5/5.0.Nokia Asha 300 is priced at Rs. 6,200 in India and if you are looking forward to buy a new phone in this price range, then do pick up this as it’s a touch and type device which offers good features and applications. So, there you go guys that was the complete review of Nokia Asha 300, stay tuned for more tech updates here at Gadgetgyaan.
