Micromax Canvas Spark Full Review:
Design, Display, Touchscreen and Hardware:
” Phone Survived in Drop test
The Micromax Canvas Spark comes with three multi-touch capacitive buttons present at the bottom end of the front side. At the launch event, we saw the smartphone in White/Gold unit, and we got the Grey/Silver unit for review. Both these colors looked nice on this smartphone, but we will go with the White/Gold one(personal choice). The consumers are bored of that same design, so, here the Canvas Spark can really Spark up consumer’s life with a great, slim and new design. In terms of design, the consumers are surely going to like it, as we liked it too.
The Micromax Canvas Spark comes with a 4.7-inch qHD multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display, which offers a screen resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, and it provides a pixel density of 234ppi and we are going to be honest with you, the screen is quite sharp, and the text is crisp on this display. It is an IPS LCD display and gives you an aspect ratio of 5:3 and the estimated percentage of the screen area from the device’s front end is 57.85%. The device is actually having a high PPI and the screen resolution is also good as there are many smartphones present around 10K INR with low pixel density and qHD display.
“The Design Of This Phone Is Good, But It Has Got Grace
Yes! The display can be broken but the touchscreen and the inner part will be safe. We have done the drop test of this device, but we think that this phone is going to handle a petty amount of damage. This is a LCD display, thus, it is good for this price range, and honestly the brightness level of this phone is quite good. Also, if you are familiar to Android then you know that the platform is battery sucker, so the lowest brightness level will make your battery survive more time. Watch the drop test to see it’s durability and endure capacity.
The dimensions of this device are good, and this a slim device. It is a not thick, and it’s weight is low as compared to many smartphones. It weighs about 134g. The weight of this phone is also okay, and we felt it is kind of a light thing to hold in the hand or to place in the pocket. The phone feels solid, it feels solid in the hand. . The capacitive touchscreen buttons which you can see in the image below are not having the backlit support, and thus sometimes in dark it becomes difficult to see it.
This high end spec featured smartphone is having all the required ports. There is also a noise cancellation port present in this device. Anyway, this phone is having a good touch sensitivity as we dd not faced any difficulty with the response of touchscreen. Also, above the screen the users can find the earpiece, front camera and ambient light sensor. On the right hand side, there are you volume rockers and power on/off button. On the left hand side, one can find a nice metal bezel only. At the bottom end, there is microUSB port present which is used for data syncing and charging. An 8-Megapixel camera can be found on the back, with the speakers and company logo. Overall, this phone is quite good in the terms of hardware, design and display and you can see our ratings above and also hover on the other side to give your ratings.
OS, Messaging and Connectivity Features:

Anyway, if you know the rooting process, then you can surely root the phone to help yourselves immensely with many things.
“The OS Is Fast, And It Comes With Android Lollipop.
On the software front, we did not find any kind of issue and as it is running on Android it is really good as you are going to get as many apps as you want to download from the Google Play Store. Lollipop improves on the speed and simplicity of Android 4.4 is enhanced in the Lollipop, and includes all new features – Photo Sphere, Material Design, Guest Mode, and a completely redesigned camera app, new Gesture Typing keyboard, Google Now with all new cards, and much more.
Everything in Lollipop feels fast, fluid, and smooth. Moving between home screens and switching between apps is effortless, like turning the pages of a book. Android Lollipop improves performance throughout the system, including faster orientation changes, quicker switching between recent apps, and smoother and more consistent rendering across the system through vsync and triple buffering.
Lollipop has more reactive and uniform touch responses, and makes your Android device even more responsive by boosting your device’s CPU instantly when you touch the screen, and turns it down when you don’t need it to improve battery life. The clock has been totally redesigned with an all new look which includes both a digital and analog clock style. The world clock lets you check the time in different cities right from the Clock app or your lock screen. Also, the material design is something which we were looking for in this brilliant update. The guest mode is also there to enhance the security, and thus, your phone will know whether it’s you or someone else. So, that is all about the Android Lollipop and now, let’s move on towards the next thing which is the connectivity feature.
The Micromax Canvas Spark is not having a big screen(like 5.5-inch), so you may not have expected this device to bring luxurious typing quality to it, but it is pretty good. It is going to withstand on your expectations. If you are having small hands, then you will not find any trouble as it is a 4.7-inch display and it will be good for people with big hands to type in the landscape mode. So, if you are having small hands better use the portrait mode.
The people after texting can’t say that they are facing any kind of finger pain issues. The keys are having space in-between them and in the review video you can find lot more regarding typing..
This is a 3G only device and has connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. It uses micro-SIM card and we have checked all the connectivity features, and no problems were found with the connectivity features. Overall, this phone was also quite good in the terms of OS and Connectivity. You can find our ratings above for this section too.
Camera and Processor & Performance:
The Micromax Canvas Spark comes with an 8-Megapixl AutoFocus camera with the single LED flash, which is capable of shooting HD videos. This device can shoot in a resolution of 720p only. Under 5K INR, there is only one smartphone available with 1080p HD video shooting capability—InFocus M2. The primary camera comes with a Largan Lens and takes image in 3264 x 2448 pixels. Also, it come with features like AF, Geo tagging, Touch Focus, Continuous shooting, ISO setting, Face Detection, White Balance setting, Blue filter glass and much more.
Focusing was slow on this device and sometimes we faced lag in automatic exposure detection. The final textures were okay, but not the best. But, the camera performed okay in low light conditions. We didn’t expect that from this camera, but it can take some cool shots at night.
Anyway, moving ahead, on the front of this device there is also a 2-Megapixel Fixed Focus camera present, which is quite useful as it has got the 3G support, so, you can make the video calls with it. On the other hand, you can use the front camera to set your hair style and see your beautiful face. Also, you can shoot videos with it.
The camera performance was just okay, it was not our best experience, but at the end of the day, we have to keep the price tag in mind too .We have deeply tested both these cameras and the rear camera is good, but the front camera is a little dull. At this moment, we have no photos to share as we accidentally deleted the folder containing the pics, but we can assure you that it is good for photography. The video quality was also okay.
If you want to know more about the camera in detail, then do check out the Review video below, where everything is explained. This device is also packing a Quad-Core processor. The smartphone is using the MediaTek MT6582 processor, which was launched earlier this year. It is a true Quad-Core processor and we have done both benchmark test and gaming review video of this smartphone, it comes with a Mali 400 GPU.
The handset is good for gaming. We have played games like Asphalt 8, Brother in Arms, Gun Battleship and many more. All these games worked well on this smartphone, but there was some lag during the movement. The HD games faced sometimes a little issue, but at the end of the day, they didn’t stopped. The phone heats up after 30 minutes of playing. The performance of this device is okay, as sometimes the phone used to take 10-15 seconds to open an application. We should also keep the price tag in mind as the phone offers a lot of things under 5K INR.
We have also played a lot of Full HD videos on the smartphone, and the playback was fair, there were a few hesitating moments, but overall, it was okay. Multitasking was okay, and we do not think that the consumers are going to face day-to-day multitasking problems. The battery life of this device was quite good and it lasted for 7 hours and 14 minutes. Also, we saw that the battery is decreasing gradually and we do not know whether it is a problem with the software or battery itself.
The phone received a good Antutu and Quadrant Benchmark score, and you can watch our gaming and benchmark videos above to get precise information.
The Micromax Canvas Spark is not a bad phone as it will give you a fair performance, and apart from that, we have also checked the call quality of this phone and we have found it satisfying, and the person on the other side was able to hear clearly. The internal storage of this device is 8GB and you can expand the external storage up to 32GB via a MicroSD card. The handset comes with a good back finish, it feels like poly carbonate, and you can take photos in high speed burst mode too. Also, the front camera supports upto 5 beauty effects. This device is also having many other features which includes playing various video and audio formats and much more.
The Micromax Canvas Spark comes with a non-removable battery. On removing the back panel, you will be able to see dual-SIM card slots(left-3G), and a MicroSD card slot. The speakers of this device are good, and there was no problem.
The Micromax Canvas Spark is not a high end phone, but the company has tried to put their best efforts as the device is having very good features. Also, this phone is available in both White/Golden and Grey/Silver colors. This device is priced at Rs. 4,999, and you can get it from Online retailer—Snapdeal. It is one of the best smartphone present in India, under 5K INR at this moment, but if you want to get more, you can go ahead and buy a smartphone around Rs. 7,000 which will give you better experience, but if you are having a budget of 5K, go with this.
