Earlier this year Lenovo revealed that they are going to acquire Motorola and obtain the license and the brand name completely from Google and will own the Droid sales as well and the smartphones of the Moto series will come under it and finally after 10 months of the announcement the deal is closed

On this acquisition Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing said:

[blockquote cite=”Yang Yuanqing “]Together we are ready to compete, grow and win in the global smartphone market. By building a strong number three and a credible challenger to the top two in smartphones, we will give the market something it has needed: choice, competition and a new spark of innovation.[/blockquote]

Gadget Updates: HP Sprout launched

Google completely re-branded the Moto company and it will be interesting to see how Lenovo will improve the Moto division. 3000 new employees are hired for the Moto division. $2.91 Billion deal is officially closed now but we do hope that Google will keep Moto as their partner for launching their flagship smartphones.
