Karbonn A12+ Review: A Phone Worth Buying?

By posted on April 23, 2014 1:19AM

5 Karbonn has been doing a great job from last year and this year it has launched many phones and one of them was the Karbonn A12 which was able to impress many of the consumers, so the company improved it much more to bring some new dazzles to the phone and relaunched it with a name of Karbonn A12+.A few days ago, we have got this device and have already done the Karbonn A12+ Unboxing and you can also watch the unboxing video below.

Karbonn A12+ is a good device but is it good enough to give you and your mind the complete satisfaction to redeem your fulfilled choices? Let’s find out in the full review of this handset.

Design, Display, Touchscreen and Hardware:

[two_third]Karbonn A12+ is having a very nice and comfortable design which is having the damped or forced in circular edges at the four corners and we can see that the angular edges are quite nice and also, there is a nice bezel running all around the phone and you can see that bezel in the image below.[/two_third]

“The Phone Never Lagged In Hardware

Also, the design of this device is quite similar to the other handsets in the Smart lineup as this device is just like the rectangular smartphones and it is just okay for the intermediate purpose of design, but overall the design is not so satisfactory for looking and grace purpose, but for your own use you can have your own mind and selection criteria. It is quite easy to hold this big phone in the hand and the device is not made up of the metal. The back panel is madeup of plastic along with a flat lining pattern which produces a sound when we scratch on the back panel. The back side of this device is completely flat which is not giving a good hold of the phone in the palm.
Karbonn A12+ Is having a 4.0-inch IPS capacitive WVGA touchscreen display which is 480 x 800 pixels in resolution.and the big thing is that it is not going to provide you a rare piece of PPI and we are going to be honest with you, the screen is not so sharp and the texts are not going to be so crispier as you may have expected it to be on a big 4-inch screen. The device is made of plastic and we do not think that it is going to break easily after falling from a certain height.

“The Design Of This Phone Is A Little Dull, But Still It Has Grace

[/blockquote][/one_third_last]

Yes! The display can be broken but the touchscreen and the inner part will be safe.We have not done the drop test of this device, but we think that this phone is going to handle the pretty amount of damage as well. This is a WVGA display and honestly the brightness level of this phone is not so good, also, if you know Android is the battery sucker, so the lower brightness level will make your battery survive more time.
The dimensions of this device are not known, but this device is not so slime as you can see the image above, you will figure out the thickness of this phone which is quite more as compared to the day to day cheap Android phones like the Micromax Canvas A92 Lite. The weight of this phone is also okay and we did felt it is kind of a light thing to hold in the hand or to place in the pocket. Well, the phone felt solid, it felt solid in the hand. This device is having the three standard capacitive touch buttons at the bottom end which are the settings button, the home button and the back button as well.

This phone is having the standard buttons and ports as well.It was quite interesting fact that there was no Micromax logo present on the front side of this phone and it was kind of a weird thing which kept us in shock.Anyway, this phone is having a great touch sensitivity and the touchscreen doesn’t lag anywhere which is going to make many of you guys happy. So, overall this phone is quite good in the terms of hardware, design and display and you can see our ratings above and also hover on the other side to show your ratings.

OS, Messaging and Connectivity Features:

8

Karbonn A12+ is running on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system and we think that it is going to get the future updates as well.A few months ago the company did announced that from now they are going to keep their devices always up to date on the software front as well.It is having a 3.4.0 Kernel version which is going to be useful for the developers.Anyway, if you know the rooting process then you can surely do the rooting of this phone to help yourselves immensely with many a things.

[one_third_last][blockquote]

“The OS Is Fast, But The Upgrade Will Not Be Coming To This Phone. So, No Android KitKat

[/blockquote][/one_third_last]

On the software front we did not find any kind of issue and as it is running on Android it is real good as you are going to get as many apps as you want to download from the Google Play Store.nAndroid 4.2, Jelly Bean improves on the speed and simplicity of Android 4.1 and includes all new features – Photo Sphere and a completely redesigned camera app, new Gesture Typing keyboard, Google Now with all new cards, and much more.

9
Everything in Jelly Bean feels fast, fluid, and smooth. Moving between home screens and switching between apps is effortless, like turning the pages of a book./jelly Bean improves performance throughout the system, including faster orientation changes, quicker switching between recent apps, and smoother and more consistent rendering across the system through vsync and triple buffering.Jelly Bean has more reactive and uniform touch responses, and makes your Android device even more responsive by boosting your device’s CPU instantly when you touch the screen, and turns it down when you don’t need it to improve battery life. The clock has been totally redesigned with an all new look which includes both a digital and analog clock style. The world clock lets you check the time in different cities right from the Clock app or your lock screen. So, that is all about the Android Jelly Bean operating system and now, let’s move on  towards the next thing which is the connectivity feature.

Karbonn A12+ Messaging
Karbonn A12+ is not a phablet, but still it is having a big screen so you must have expected that this device is going to bring luxurious typing quality, but ironically it has not which is an another disappointment for all the users. If you are having small hands or you are giving this phone to a child as a gift then he/she will not be having any issues, but if you are using it for your own purpose and have big hands then you will fill discarded or betrayed as we have tested this QWERTY keyboard on both landscape and portrait mode and we have not find them trust worthy.

[one_third_last][blockquote]

“The Phone Is Not Good For Messaging, Everything Regarding The Keyboard Is Mentioned

[/blockquote][/one_third_last]

The keys are not having space between them and due to that two keys are tapped at a time and instead of ‘b’ you get your phone’s keyboard typed with the letter ‘v’.Even, we have find issues while tapping the space bar, so, we do not recommend this phone to the business folks who have to do a lot of text all the day around.Overall, the text board of this device is not so friendly and also, there are not much features available on the keyboard. You can surely find deep more about the keyboard in the video review attached below.

Karbonn A12+ is a 3G only device and has connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB port and a 3.5mm AV jack as well..It uses the normal sized SIM cards and we have checked all the connectivity features and we have found no problems with the connectivity feature. So, overall this phone was also quite good in the terms of OS and Connectivity as well.

Camera and Processor:

4

Karbonn A12+ is having a 5 Megapixel fixed focus camera and it is capable of shooting HD videos  as well. This device can shoot in a resolution of 720p, but the biggest disappointing thing about this camera is that, it is not having the Auto Focus mode and thus it is not going to give that ultimate feeling of the HD thing.Anyway, moving ahead, on the front of this device there is a 0.3 Megapixel camera present which is quite useful as it has got the 3G support, so, you can not make the video calling as well.On the other hand, you can use the front camera to set you hair style and see your beautiful face.:P

If you want to know more about the camera in detail, then do check out the Review video below where, everything is explained. This device is also packing a 1.3GHz dual-core processor along with a 512MB of RAM.This is going to help you a lot with your day to day multitasking and we are soon going to update this post with the Benchmark results as well.We have also find that you are going to play HD and 3D games on this device without hanging as well.Overall, this phone has done a great job in this segment as well.

Others:

Karboon A12+ is a good phone giving you a good performance as well.We have also checked that call quality of this phone and we have found it nice, and the person on the other side can hear our voice clearly as well. The internal storage of this device is 1.24GB and you can expand the external storage upto 32GB via a microSD card as well. This device is also having many other features which includes playing various video and audio formats and much more.

Conclusion:

Karbonn A12+ is a budget friendly phone and this device is having the good features as well. So, after giving all the features a deep look we are going to give this device a score of 3.5/5.Also, this phone is going to be available in both White and Black colors as well. This device is priced at Rs.5,099/- and it is going to be available via both online and offline mode as well. So, there you go guys that was all about the Karbonn A12+ Review and you can you can watch the complete review video below and you can also check out the image gallery underneath. Thanks for reading our review. Please Hover Above to give the User’s rating.
