Nokia and Microsoft have jointly brought the Skype for Windows Phone application to the Lumia series devices and till now, this application has been a major hit.Anyway, a month back Nokia has brought this application to the Nokia Lumia 610 and has revealed that this application will be available in the Marketplace very soon.Since the announcement Nokia was completely testing this application and after thorough testing Espoo’s giant has found that Skype for Windows Phone application is incompatible with the Lumia 610.
Nokia Lumia 610 is going to be the cheapest Windows Phone from Nokia and to make it cheap the company has kept the specs a little low which has created this issue.Nokia Lumia 610 is having 256MB of RAM, while the requirement to access the Skype for Windows Phone application on any Windows Mango phone is 512MB RAM or above.Skype will only work properly if your phone is having minimum of 512MB RAM.In this case Lumia 610 does not meet the requirement and thus, it can’t run this application.
On this matter Nokia has said to the sources of WMPowerUser:
“ Nokia attaches great importance to the launch of products and services to bring the user experience, so even if the Skype Windows Phone version on the Nokia Lumia 610 does, but after intensive testing, we found the user experience does not guarantee to Nokia and Skype the expected level. Therefore, we do not recommend users to use Skype on the Nokia Lumia 610.Nokia Lumia 610 users in the Windows Phone Marketplace will not be able to download Skype, Windows Phone version. Skype, Windows Phone version will continue to open to other users to download.
Nokia is soon going to pull this application from the Windows MarketPlace of Lumia 610, but nothing to worry for the other Lumia users, it will be still there for your phones.Anyway, this is quite unfortunate, but still, we hope that Nokia will introduce some good and compatible application for the Lumia 610.
